Lydia skiing at Park City Mountain with a friend

I’m really excited to interview Lydia Kluge a Google Local Guide, about Park City, Utah. Lydia’s tips for the best things to do in Park City are awesome because she moved here to become a ski instructor at Deer Valley Resort. She fell in love with the mountain and found her husband on the slopes. The outdoor lifestyle, hundreds of miles of alpine trails, and excellent weather make Park City a dream come true for her.

Best things to do in Park City Utah - Lydia Kluge - Tour of Utah road bike race

While Park City is best known for its skiing, it is a year-round destination. Its mountains are a challenge for the Tour of Utah road bike racers.

Park City, Utah

Park City is a popular ski and snowboard destination in Utah, about 30 minutes from Salt Lake City. While it is best known for its ski slopes, the city offers year-round activities for visitors, including hiking, cycling, and mountain biking. There are over 400 miles of trails for mountain biking and hiking. And the Wasatch Mountains are both beautiful to look at and offer incredible hiking opportunities.

It is also home to the Sundance Film Festival, the largest independent film festival in the U.S. Throughout the year, you can also attend the Freestyle International Ski World Cup, Utah Symphony in the summer, Autumn Aloft Hot Air Balloon Festival, and the Point 2 Point endurance mountain bike race. Skiiers and snowboarders will love Deer Valley Resort (IKON Pass) and Park City Mountain Resort (Epic Pass).

We share a lot of resources and local suggestions in today’s podcast, but you should also check out Visit Park City, the local visitor’s bureau. They are a wealth of information and can help you plan an itinerary based on your time, budget, and interests. Getting around Park City

The local airport is Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC), which is only a 30-minute drive to downtown Park City. The best way to get to Park City from the airport is to use Uber or Lyft, rent a car, or arrange for private transport. Lydia recommends booking with Alpine Transportation.

Lydia says that, if you’re staying downtown, there’s no need to rent a car, especially because paid parking is limited in the downtown area. China Bridge parking lot is the best place to park. For the best offers, visit Avis, Budget, or Hertz.

Once you’re in town, the free local bus from Park City Transit can get you everywhere you want to go.

When you only need a car for a couple of hours, you can rent by the hour with Zipcar. Join now to get $25 loaded into your account.
