Boise, Idaho
Boise is a trendy pick today for people thinking of moving. And after hearing Whitney talk about her city, I can understand why. It has a dry climate with beautiful spring and autumn weather and a local population that loves being outdoors and active. Skiiers and snowboarders love the local mountains in the winter, while the rolling foothills and local mountains offer plenty of trails to explore as the weather warms up.
The city has attracted a new generation of entrepreneurs. And Whitney says that the craft beer & cider scene will intrigue those who enjoy spending time with friends over an adult beverage.

- Idaho Shakespeare Festival (reviews) – My favorite tip for Shakespeare festival is to volunteer. You get to watch the show for free in exchange for helping people find their seats, take out trash, etc.
- North Bogus Basin Road (reviews)
- Split Rail Winery (reviews) – Take a day trip to a winery (30 minutes away from Boise)
- Table Rock – Hike Table Rock- it gives you a great view of the whole city.
- Trail Creek – Jump in the car and head 1.5 hours to the hot springs. My favorite, Trail Creek, is free and gorgeous! Just go early, it gets busy. There are a few great commercial hot springs as well.
- Treefort Music Fest – An amazing festival that you don’t want to miss
Best places to eat in Boise
- The Basque Market (reviews) – Friday’s they shut down the street and make a huge pan of paella— it’s to die for!
- Fork (reviews) – Get the Urban Burger or the BAM Sammy with Parmesan fries.
- Meriwether Cider House (reviews) – Check out the craft beer scene and grab a huge glass of cider from Meriwether.

Getting around Boise, Idaho
The local airport is Boise Airport, which is only 4 miles from downtown.
Whitney says that you definitely should rent a car when you visit Boise. She’s not a fan of their public transportation and renting a car will make it easier for you to explore the hiking trails, natural hot springs, and local mountains.
