San Antonio, Texas

San Antonio is in central Texas, about 80 miles southwest of Austin. It is most popular for its history at The Alamo, the NBA’s San Antonio Spurs, and its unique River Walk entertainment district. However, locals love the annual festivals that celebrate its heritage, like Fiesta San Antonio and El Dia De Los Muertos.

The city has hot and humid summers and mild winters. Shannyn says that the best time to visit San Antonio is in the spring because of the excellent weather and the Fiesta. If you visit during Fiesta, don’t miss the Battle of the Flowers Parade. The Botanical Garden is a gorgeous place to get out of the city and enjoy nature. Walking among the flowers and plants is a good way to build up an appetite for the famous fried chicken and 3-pound cinnamon roll at Lulu’s Bakery.

We share a lot of resources and local suggestions in today’s podcast, but you should also check out Visit San Antonio, the local convention and visitor’s bureau. They are a wealth of information and can help you plan an itinerary based on your time, budget, and interests.
