I’m really excited to interview Kyle Kroeger of ViaTravelers about Amsterdam, Netherlands. Kyle’s tips for the best things to do in Amsterdam are awesome because he originally visited Amsterdam as a study abroad student a decade ago. After becoming a travel blogger, he moved his family here to enjoy the history and lifestyle of the city.

Getting around Amsterdam
The local airport is Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS), which is about a 15-minute drive to downtown. Use our Expedia tool below to find flight, hotel, and rental car options.
Kyle says that there’s no need to rent a car when staying in Amsterdam. The public transportation is excellent, and free use is included with the I Amsterdam card. The city is very walkable, but you may want to use Uber or Lyft or rent a bike to get around faster. If you’re going to venture outside of the city limits, you may want to rent a card. Visit Avis, Budget, or Hertz for the best rental car offers.
