Getting around Shanghai

If you are traveling to Shanghai internationally, then Brantley suggests flying into Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG), which is about a 40-minute drive to Shanghai. If you are flying domestically into Shanghai, then Brantley suggests flying into Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport (SHA), as it is only 25 minutes into the city. Use our Expedia tool below to find flight, hotel, and rental car options.

Brantley says that you shouldn’t rent a car if you’re staying within the city. However, if you want to explore outside the city core, renting a car can be a good option if you are comfortable driving. For the best rental car offers, visit Avis, Budget, or Hertz.

Brantley suggests downloading the Didi Chuxing app (Apple, Google) for rideshare options since Uber is not available here. She also says that the Shanghai metro is a great way to get around the city.
