Getting around the Galapagos Islands

To get to the Galapagos Island Fernando says to fly into either Mariscal Sucre Quito International Airport (UIO) or José Joaquín de Olmedo International Airport (GYE). After flying into one of those airports you can then take a domestic flight to connect to the Galapagos Islands. Use our Expedia tool below to find flight, hotel, and rental car options.

Fernando says that there is no reason to rent a car when visiting the islands. The best way to see the islands is to take a multi-day cruise, so you don’t have to worry about hotels or transportation.

Fernando is the son (2nd of 3 boys) of the founders of Quasar Expeditions, as well as the Director of Marketing for the company. He spent a lot of his childhood in the Galapagos and knew, from a very young age, that he wanted to work in the family business and stay connected with the Islands.

After graduating from high school in Ecuador, he went to college in the United States. He came back to Galapagos right after graduating. He lived in Ecuador for 7 years before moving down to Chile to start the company’s Patagonia programs.
