Getting around Miami

The local airport is Miami International Airport (MIA), which is about a 20-minute drive to downtown. Use our Expedia tool below to find flight, hotel, and rental car options.

Julie says that getting around Miami is pretty easy by walking, riding a bike or taking an Uber or Lyft. Public transportation is an option and the Metro Mover is convenient within the Brickell/Downtown area. However, it doesn’t reach many of the popular destinations within the city. Miami Beach also offers a trolley that is fun and easy to use. The Metro Rail goes further outside the city limits if you want to venture out to other areas within Florida.

For people who want to travel on their own schedule, you’re better off renting a car. You can find the best rental car offers at Avis, Budget, or Hertz. When you only need a car for a couple of hours, you can rent by the hour with Zipcar. Join now to get $25 loaded into your account.

Who is Julie Middlebrook-Levin?

Julie has made her career in Marketing, PR and Culinary Arts and is the Co-Founder of a food-based charity in Toronto. She has worked independently as a chef, caterer, recipe developer and cooking instructor in Canada, the US and Japan. Julie worked in advertising in San Francisco, managed a relocation company in Tokyo, worked for an International food import company in Kobe, launched a food and culture-based charity for families in Toronto and continues to work in the PR and food industry in Chicago. She loves to travel every chance she gets while raising three kids (in three different countries!) as global citizens.

Julie believes that food is the window to all cultures and is on a mission to foster the spirit of exploration by connecting people through food and culture. When not planning trips for Taste Journey, she’s probably planning her own, or working in her organic garden, crafting her next meal to share with family and friends. Julie believes that travel is for everyone and loves creating the perfect Taste Journey experience for someone else. She personally researches and forms relationships at each and every destination for Taste Journey. This is her dream job traveling with her BFF, Carly, because now she gets to call travel and food exploration “work”!
