Perth, Australia
We share a lot of resources and local suggestions in today’s podcast, but you should also check out Destination Perth, the local visitor’s bureau. They are a wealth of information and can help you plan an itinerary based on your time, budget, and interests.

Getting around Perth
The local airport is Perth Airport (PER), which is about a 15-minute drive to the city. Use our Expedia tool below to find flight, hotel, and rental car options.
Amanda says that public transport isn’t great, and you’ll wish that you had a car when visiting attractions outside the CBD (central business district). For the best rental car offers, visit Avis, Budget, or Hertz. Within the CBD, the CAT (Central Area Transport) Buses offer five routes depending on where you’re going. Best of all, they are free to ride.
If you don’t want to rent a car, rideshare apps from Uber, Didi, and Ola are excellent ways to get around.

Who is Amanda Kendle?
Amanda Kendle is a travel lover who’s lived in Asia and Europe but is now based in her hometown of Perth, Western Australia. She’s hosted The Thoughtful Travel Podcast since 2016 and has been a travel writer and blogger since 2005. Her website, Not A Ballerina, is a travel blog that nudges those who think they might like to travel somewhere to get up and go.
The Not A Ballerina blog started in 2005 as a way to share her publications in print and online travel magazines with family and friends, but it’s evolved far beyond that and now it’s a place where Amanda hopes fellow travelers – armchair ones included – can think about why travel is important and what it can teach us.
