I’m really excited to interview Josh Calcanis of The Investing Circle about Savannah, Georgia. Josh’s tips for the best things to do in Savannah are awesome because his first job out of college was in Savannah, and he spent several years here before moving into his next role. He loved how the community is supportive, and there’s so much history in this area.

Getting around Savannah

The local airport is Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport (SAV), which is about a 20-minute drive to downtown. Use our Expedia tool below to find flight, hotel, and rental car options.

Josh says that if you’re staying downtown near Forsyth or the waterfront, there’s no need to rent a car. But, if you plan on traveling outside of the downtown area to visit Tybee Island, Wilmington Island or Hilton Head, then you’ll need a car. For the best rental car offers, visit Avis, Budget, or Hertz.

Parking can be a challenge in Savannah. If you’re driving to the city or renting a car, make sure that your hotel offers self-park or valet parking. Otherwise, you’ll have a tough time finding convenient parking that’s affordable.

Uber and Lyft are excellent ways to get around. But Josh says to avoid ordering one on River Street due to surge pricing. When you only need a car for a couple of hours, you can rent by the hour with Zipcar. Join now to get $25 loaded into your account.

Who is Josh Calcanis?

Josh Calcanis is a sales professional, traveler, entrepreneur, and pilot. He has spent over 12 years in different sales roles, traveling the United States and living in almost every corner of the U.S. He began investing in the stock market and real estate in 2015 to earn more free time (or time he owns).

In his free time he flies a Cessna 182 with a little over 380 hours of flight time (a relatively green pilot). He also runs and weightlifts, occasionally rents a motorcycle, and really enjoys traveling.
