Baseball, Beaches & Lobster in Cape Cod, Massachusetts with Lisa

Best things to do in Cape Cod Massachusetts Lisa Morales walking on the beach

Walking on the beach in Cape Cod

I’m really excited to interview Lisa Morales of LisaMorales.com about Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Lisa’s tips for the best things to do in Cape Cod are awesome because she has such a fun history with the town. Her parents honeymooned there in 1962, then she visited as a young child. Lisa eventually moved to Cape Cod to escape the cold of upstate New York and start living the beach lifestyle.

Lisa and I met at TBEX in Billings, Montana in September 2019, and I just knew that she’d be perfect for the podcast.

Cape Cod, Massachusetts

Cape Cod is known as a summertime escape for people living in the Northeastern U.S. When you visit, you’ll realize that Cape Cod isn’t one city, but is a collection of 12 towns along a hook-shaped peninsula on the coast of Massachusetts. You’ll find quaint villages, lighthouses, and seafood shacks along the coast. You can even take the ferry to Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket to continue your exploration. Lisa’s favorite time of year to visit is in the fall after the summer crowds have left so you can enjoy the beaches without as many people around.

We share a lot of resources and local suggestions in today’s podcast, but you should also check out the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce, the local convention and visitor’s bureau. They are a wealth of information and can help you plan an itinerary based on your time, budget, and interests.

Getting around Cape Cod

The local airport is Barnstable Municipal Airport (HYA) in Hyannis. However, most people from outside the local area fly into Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) because only JetBlue and a couple of local airlines fly into Barnstable. There’s a twice-daily bus that travels to/from Logan – Peter Pan and Plymouth.

Lisa says that you’ll need to rent a car to get from one village to the next because public transportation isn’t terrific in Cape Cod. However, you’ll want to park as quickly as possible to avoid traffic and enjoy the beach. Uber and Lyft are excellent ways to get around. You should also consider taking one of the ferry services to get between villages for a unique experience. Consider renting a bike to get around the villages and enjoy the warm sunshine and cool ocean breezes.

If you only need a car for a couple of hours, you can rent by the hour with Zipcar. Join now to get $25 loaded into your account.
