Detroit, Michigan

Detroit is known for its deep connection with America’s auto industry. It is also the birthplace of Motown Records, whose chart-topping history of music is on display at its original headquarters. Detroit is on the water’s edge of Lake St Clair and very close to Lake Erie, one of America’s Great Lakes.

Andy says that the best time to visit is in the summer or fall. The months from May to November are known as Golden Time in Michigan.

We share a lot of resources and local suggestions in today’s podcast, but you should also check out Visit Detroit, the local convention and visitor’s bureau. They are a wealth of information and can help you plan an itinerary based on your time, budget, and interests. Check out the free D Discount Pass, which saves 20% or more on many of Detroit’s most popular tourist attractions.
