Greenbelt in the city

Idaho Falls, Idaho

Idaho Falls is the state’s largest city outside of the Boise metropolitan area. It is located in the eastern part of the state and is a close drive from the entrance to Yellowstone National Park and Bridger-Teton National Forest. The city hugs the Snake River and has a system of trails, parks, and a waterfall along its greenbelt.

There are all four seasons in Idaho Falls, so it has every kind of weather you can imagine. Miranda suggests visiting during the late spring or early fall to experience the outdoors without it being too crowded. Winter is the perfect time to visit if you love skiing. And summer features multiple festivals, like the annual Duck Race, and the city’s amazing Fourth of July Fireworks show during RiverFest.

We share a lot of resources and local suggestions in today’s podcast, but you should also check out Visit Idaho Falls, the local visitor’s bureau. They are a wealth of information and can help you plan an itinerary based on your time, budget, and interests.

Getting around Idaho Falls

The local airport is the Idaho Falls Regional Airport (IDA), which is about 3 miles from downtown. There are no direct flights, so you’ll have to connect in Denver or Salt Lake when flying here. Flights are only available on United and Delta.

Miranda says that you should rent a car for your visit, so click here for the best offers from Avis, Budget, or Hertz. Uber and Lyft are excellent ways to get around.
