Getting around L’Isle sur la Sorgue

The local airport is Marseille Provence Airport (MRS), which is about a 50-minute drive to L’Isle sur la Sorgue.

Kevin says that you can explore the main part of the city without a car. However, it would be difficult to explore the region beyond the city without one. For the best offers, visit Avis, Budget, or Hertz.

The region is a cyclists’ paradise, and you can easily ride between the local towns on a bike if you have the endurance. The train network is excellent, and the local train station connects visitors to anywhere in Europe, including the Marseille Airport.

There are taxis. However, you won’t find Uber or Lyft when visiting.

L’Isle sur la Sorgue has the most antique dealers in France outside of Paris. Stroll through the local shops to explore the history and find a souvenir.

Who is Kevin McGoff?

Kevin is a freelance travel writer who lives part of the year in the South of France. He and his wife extended their time in France over the past four years so they can appreciate the treasure of life in small-town France by becoming a part of the community.

He started writing about Provence, then moved beyond in a widening circle. His stories about cycling in Italy, cruising on a self-piloted river barge, and street art in Berlin and Denver have appeared in print and online publications. When Google was developing its travel website, Kevin was selected to contribute to the pilot program Touring Birds. His writing subjects tend toward the world outside his apartment door. He writes about a variety of destinations and attractions thanks to the easy access to the French rail system, the airport in Marseille, and the highways of Europe.

Kevin began travel writing as a vehicle for transitioning to something following his professional career as an attorney. After moving to Provence, his article in International Living won a travel writing award in a contest sponsored by The Travel Writer’s University. When he and his wife are not in the South of France or off on another adventure, they can be found in Indianapolis visiting family and friends. They also love to lounge on the beach in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, where they enjoy spending time escaping the gray chill of winter. Their apartment near Avignon, in the town of Isle sur la Sorgue, is nestled in the land conquered by Julius Caesar and made famous by Peter Mayle and Marcel Pagnol.
