Oklahoma City is the capital of Oklahoma and is known for its cowboy culture. One of the city’s darkest days happened in 1995 when the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building was bombed by a domestic terrorist. The OKC Bombing Memorial & Museum is a popular attraction that recognizes those who were lost that day with concrete seats that light up at night. Art lovers should visit the Oklahoma City Museum of Art to explore its latest immersive exhibits. Chisholm Creek is the place to be for entertainment with TopGolf, Chicken and Pickle, Main Event, and other fun date-night ideas. Riversport OKC offers exciting outdoor adventures for the entire family, like whitewater rafting, tubing, a ropes course, and kayaking.
Nicky says that the weather in OKC depends on the day. It can be warm and sunny one moment, then snowing the next. The winters are not that bad, with just a few days of ice and snow. Summers can be hot and humid which leads to tornado season. The best times to visit are late Spring and Fall because there are plenty of outdoor events, farmers’ markets, and opportunities for outdoor entertainment. Some of Nicky’s favorites are the Festival of the Arts, the Chuck Wagon Festival, and concerts at Chisholm Creek.

Getting around Oklahoma City
The local airport is Will Rogers World Airport (OKC), which is a fifteen-minute drive to downtown.
Nicky says that if want to venture outside of the downtown areas then it’s a good idea to rent a car. For the best offers, visit Avis, Budget, or Hertz.
Uber and Lyft are also excellent ways to get around if you don’t want to drive. For a local experience, check out the Oklahoma City Streetcar. It does loops throughout the city (Downtown and Bricktown) and you can buy tickets on your smartphone or at station kiosks.
